What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is a specialized therapy most often provided to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, other qualifying developmental disorders, and unique behavioral needs.
ABA Therapy programs can assist with:
Increase the use of functional communication
Increase socially-significant skills
Reducing maladaptive behaviors through teaching replacement behaviors
ABA services begin with a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), which includes both direct and indirect methods to assess current behavioral concerns and identify relevant skill deficits.
After conclusion of the FBA, a Behavior Intervention Plan is developed, prescribing medically-necessary service hours based on the needs of the individual. At Southern TN ABA LLC, these hours will take place in the clinic environment. Direct services are provided by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) under supervision of a BCBA.
Parent/Caregiver training is also ordered as part of the assessment process. Caregiver involvement in treatment is necessary, and also a requirement of ABA Therapy services.
